I could spend day’s at times avoiding meeting new people just so it doesn’t make me anxious. I have been battling anxiety ever since and it is rooted in social situations. But, it doesn’t always have to be that way. There are many ways through which we can earn to adapt to life with anxiety.

People who suffer from anxiety often resort to some safety behaviors. For example, I tend to speak very fast and avoid eye contact with people in social situations. Many people hold on to their glass very tightly so that people don’t see their hands shaking. In extreme cases, I know people who induce themselves with alcohol and drugs just so they can work up the nerve to attend a party.
Safety behaviors in anxiety patients work like training wheels on bikes. You think you can’t drive without them. But, you can’t drive with them all your life. It does more bad than good when we completely depend on our safety behaviors during social situations.
Be Okay With Who You Are
Not everybody is cut out of the same cloth. The sooner you accept that tiny fact the better it gets for you. Look not everyone enjoys the same things. There are introverts and then there are extroverts. And, it is completely okay to be an introvert who is socially selective.
Introverts are people who like their spaces lot more and are very picky in whom they talk to or mix with. And, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Social anxiety can be crippling if it gets in the way of your daily tasks. Like, keeping a job or going out at all. Sometimes, the best thing you can do for yourself is bravely faced your fear. I know a guy who could never start a conversation with a girl. He later realized once he got through the initial conversation, his anxiety settled in.

Often so, we are so anxious and let anxiety take us over in a public place we tend to ignore what is actually happening. Anxiety can make you be anxious about things that have not even happened as yet.

One of the best exercises that have helped me is when I am anxious and sit quietly. I used to start thinking of the worst possible outcome. That, in turn, stroked my anxiety even more. I slowly forced myself to start thinking of the best outcome. And, slowly I saw I started to think about the negative income far less.
You Are Not Alone
Social anxiety does not have to mind breaking that it becomes an excuse to be a recluse. Remember, that there are a lot of successful people who have social anxiety. You share the same traits of Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, and many other people.
Anxiety does not need blood samples for a diagnosis. So, you can always get a doctor’s opinion on your social anxiety. That will help you find better ways to deal with it and yet move on to be successful in life too.

More often, the clothes you wear and how you feel about it affects your anxiety levels too. So, always make sure to be comfortable in whatever it is that you are wearing. It will help you relax throughout the entire situation. If you are up for a speech on a stage, being comfortable in what you wear will help you relax and lower your anxiety levels.
This is the scientific theory that when you ask yourself what’s the worse can happen. You actually realize the worst possible outcome.
